Dear Friends and Family, I am happy to write to you once again! I have good news in regards to missionary work, but also my personal development. I've been reading Jordan Peterson's new book "Beyond Order: 12 More Rules for Life", and I finished chapter 7: Work as hard as you possible can on at least one thing and see what happens. At the beginning of that chapter, JP talks about the cost of not picking something, and basically describes the horrible life of a undergrad student without a major: something I have both experienced and witnessed my peers experiencing. At the end of this first part of the chapter, he says, "Do you really want to be everything you could be? Is that not too much? Might it not be better to be something specific (and then, perhaps, add to that)? Would that not come as a relief- even though it is also a sacrifice?" First Two Weeks in the Field

Dear Friends and Family, I don't know what to say! So much has happened and I ran out of time to write last week so now I have twice as much to cover.  When I arrived in the Grand Junction West Zone, I got to say hello to my old friend Morgan Bledsoe from Helaman Halls. She got on the bus I got off, to go to Denver and then to fly home. This was a sweet tender mercy to me. Following that I met my companion/trainer, Sis. Milaya Bealer. Sis. Bealer is a very kind person, and an easy person to be around. I think God knew we'd have a lot to teach each other.  On the other hand, I really struggle with keeping the rules. Sis. Bealer is very obedient and so she's been helping me in that category. It's a bit of a slow process, but I get better everyday. Another thing I struggle with is our Mission President's terminology. The Week of Miracles

Heavenly Father works in small and simple things. An every day miracle is when a concourse of small and simple things line up all at once.  Maria was a miracle the first time we found her. When I came to this area, we walked her dogs for her twice a week. That kind of reoccurring service is not allowed in missionary work, however at the time, I didn't care. Though as I became more entrenched in this area, I started to have a greater desire to show God I was focused on finding people to bring unto Christ. On May 17th, the day Sister Friberg left for Spain, I was walking Maria's dogs with  Sister Cordova, my companion for the day until Sister Romney would arrive. As we talked, I made the final decision  to wean Marie off of our service and cease contact. As we returned the dogs home, Maria came out and talked to us for the first time in my 3 months in Centennial. She thanked us for everything we did for her, and offered to pay us.
